The following comes to us from Susan Levine, Executive Director of Hospice of the Valley:

Welcome to Hospice of the Valley's May 2010 E-News. Thank you for your interest in our work and your support of our mission.

"Not just hospice, Hospice of the Valley"

Perhaps you have seen this statement on an outdoor billboard or read it in a publication. It is our way of letting our community know about the superb care and special programs that set Hospice of the Valley apart. Caregiver support is just one of many of our exceptional services. To learn more, visit Caregiver Services.

"Spirit of Spring" campaign underway

Each spring Hospice of the Valley reaches out to our community to ask for support for our mission. For the past few years, our nation's economic difficulties have been far-reaching, touching all of us in some way. Not-for-profit organizations across the country have felt the strain of meeting increased demand for services

with fewer dollars. During this challenging time, Hospice of the Valley has not waivered from our 33-year tradition of providing exceptional end-of-life care to

all in need, regardless of ability to pay. Accordingly, our charity care expenses grew nearly 30 percent from 2008 to 2009, rising to more than $9 million. In the same period donations declined and we expect this gap to continue widening.

Our donated dollars have a whole new significance as we see the increased needs of those in our community who are directly impacted by the local economy. If you would like to help, please visit here.

New Song volunteers needed

Hospice of the Valley is always in need of volunteers to help in a variety of capacities. New Song Center for Grieving Children is seeking volunteers for a June training. To learn more, see Training starts in June to help grieving youth.

We appreciate your interest and support and invite you to visit us at hov.org.

Best regards,

Susan Levine

Executive Director
