  1. So true Kevin! Our area is flooded with extra people in winter as I'm sure yours is in summer.
  2. I don't think I changed into a gown. Might have removed my boots? It was an outpatient eye surgery center set up like an ER with curtain dividers, no changing room, lots of nurses busy as bees. I remember an IV because the anesthetist gave me something to relax. Discharged soon after it was over. The main thing was to be very still and quiet during surgery. I remember my surprise at colors after healing. My vision is 20/20 each eye now if only they would work together. You will do great Marg. Just be sure to have a driver.
  3. Hey Kevin! Are you a secret Santa? lol Just kidding, but you are the only Canadian I know and my grandson found a crumpled Canadian $10 bill on the sidewalk in front of our house today. A real mystery. Arizona is a far piece from the Canadian border. It must have fallen of Santa's sleigh on a practice run.
  4. Kay, so sorry to hear that whatever Iris passed on to you hung on for so long. Hope you are feeling a lot better. I finally managed to get rid of my intestinal issues, whatever they were. For some reason, this is a more depressing than usual holiday time. I think it has a lot to do with my no teeth and poor vision troubles. Still hate the dentures. I know I need to get used to them to leave the house and make a neurologist appt. about my vision. That will be my new years resolution. Got my little tree put up to try and add some brightness to this drab existence. Marg, as usual you are taking responsibility for so much, but it is your nature. I'm sure your family cherishes you. This my 11th Xmas without my soulmate and 10th without my sweet daughter. I guess we never stop counting..... Hope all have a holiday filled with peace.
  5. Glad to hear that we are all in one piece still(sort of). Marg seems to be the only one with any Xmas spirit at all. Of course, she's a southern gal with grit(no pun intended) and they are tough, no matter what. My daughter sure was. Wanted to pass this info to you, Kay. An article in the news about a mysterious canine respiratory illness. Vets at a loss and no treatment. In a dozen states so far with 200 cases in Oregon. Airborne or contact, don't know but worse for very old or young dogs. Just thought you might want to take extra precautions with Kodie. Our dogs are old, but only go out in the yard a few times a day, nowhere else.
  6. I'm here, Kay. How are you feeling? I've been feeling crappy for a couple of weeks with intestinal problems. It seems to be a bit better now, but no matter what I ate, my intestines would hurt. My house is so dirty, but just no energy to clean it up. Not even sure I'll put up any Xmas decorations. No Xmas spirit here at all. Guess it is winter for you now. Still in the 70's here, but 40's at night. The temperature in this old house stays confused.
  7. Glad your Thanksgiving turned out well, despite your so called "friend". Guess she is finally showing her true colors! Don't let her use you anymore. We're having our dinner tomorrow on my son's day off. Got ham this year. So much easier to deal with than turkey. Will still have all the side dishes. Tatum(biggest dog) has been sick with stomach bug for 4 days. What a huge mess! Giving her rice and chicken. Can definitely tell she isn't feeling good.
  8. Kay, I'm so sorry your son didn't respond. I know how that must hurt your feelings. Maybe your DIL interfered. Glad that you're getting better. Got my dentures today. Feels like a mouthful of rocks. I'll get used to them in time though. Have lost 7 lbs on the "no teeth" diet. Not recommended however. lol Saw my doctor last week for med refills and found out that he had actually done the blood test for Myasthenia Gravis after all. It was negative as I expected. He apologized that his staff evidently didn't recognize the test so they didn't bother giving me the results. After I get used to these blasted dentures, I'll make a neurosurgeon appt. for my double vision. Another day, another medical problem. Oh, joy!
  9. Hope you can just take it easy for a few days then. Take care.
  10. Kay, maybe someone should take you to ER just to get checked out. It could be serious!
  11. Similar temps here, Marg. 67 at 11:45 pm. Looking at the 80's this week. I think summer may be over. Will still be running the AC for a while.
  12. Marg, I think this response from Kay relates to our conversation about lousy customer service, nothing to do with Gwen.
  13. So sorry, George. That must have been awful. Extraction aftermath is bad enough without that. Fortunately, I never experienced a dry socket. In the midst of waiting on my dentures now. Will be nice to eat again someday. Hope your surgery goes smoothly and you have someone nearby to give you a hand afterwards.
  14. Hey Kay! Bad day for you, for sure. Nothing noteworthy happening here. Same old, same old. A big problem with customer service is that no one listens to what you are saying. Their brain is somewhere else. With the big companies, it could be that they can't understand you any better than you understand them. Heaven forbid that their customer service reps should reside in the U.S.A. Haven't had that problem with medical calls yet but you never know what's coming.
  15. Definitely "chatted" with these two, Marty. lol Should have just consulted my two at home.
  16. Just spent 4 frustrating hours with 4 different "chat" people at Cox. I hate those. Trying to get my programming straightened out. Every movie or program I selected was bringing up the wrong thing or an error code. I LOVE IT! They raise my price to $260 and I can't even watch tv. One of the idiots actually though I was trying to cancel the service! Not to be prejudiced, but evidently "Abdul" doesn't get the English language. Finally #4 was able to solve the problem. Back to being calm and I don't have to go out and shoot someone. Not that this is an earth shaking problem, just that watching tv is mostly what I do. Really exciting life here. lol
  17. Teeth not lining up properly in mold yet, so back to the lab. Will try again in 2 weeks. How are things with you and Kodie? Is winter close by? We're still having some 100's here. Should cool down after Halloween. Have been watching all of "Dallas". Never watched the whole thing back in the 80's. Good ol' evil J.R. Fun seeing some of my favorite old western stars like handsome Dale Robertson in a few episodes. I met him many years ago at a western show here along with several others. Hope everyone is doing well. Been pretty quiet here lately. Sill hoping to see Gwen here some night.
  18. I quit using the in town freeways years ago when I was still working. Too many lanes and cars going too fast. I was okay out on the highway going to the cabin, though. The latest thing is wrong way drivers. How drunk or stupid can you be? Some of these are in the middle of the day, all causing fatalities. After retirement, I just stayed in my familiar neighborhood. Now I don't drive at all, of course. Maybe some day? I always loved road trips to new places wanting to see what was over the next hill.
  19. Happy Birthday 🎂 to you and Kodie! So sorry your daughter has been hit with everything at once. When it rains it pours, literally for her! Surprised that the roofing company planned things so poorly. Guess they don't bother to check weather forecasts.
  20. I understand now, Kay. I think my definition of Medicare Advantage has been wrong. I didn't realize it worked that way. I've always thought that was what my plan is, but I looked at my card. It is through AARP/UHC and is called AARP Medicare Supplement Plan F. I'm fortunate that the company I retired from pays part of the premiums. Couldn't afford it otherwise for sure. Still surprised that your portion for the surgery is so much though.
  21. Kay, my UHC is a Medicare Advantage Plan which picks up the balance left behind by Medicare. There are several levels of this plan. I believe I got this in 2013. I specifically chose a more expensive plan to avoid copays and possible outstanding balances. I was worried I might get some expensive illness in later years. The premium has doubled in the last 10 years. I believe the plan level is what is different for us. The more expensive premium, the less financial responsibility falls on the patient. I'm just astounded at the figure you were given! Have you asked the doctor what his fee is? What does the surgery center charge? Just doesn't make sense!
  22. Kay, something is very wrong with that cost. My surgeon charged $1055 for each surgery. The surgicenter charged $2500 for each surgery. Medicare rates are set to charge half those amounts, which the doctor and center accept per contract. Medicare paid their 80% and my UHC Advantage the rest. I have no copays ever on anything. I do pay $300 monthly premium to UHC for that "privilege". Are you sure you were given the correct info? Going back to dentist in 2 weeks to make sure everything lines up, I guess. Not sure when I get teeth.
  23. V, so nice to hear from you. Hope you and the children are doing well. Drop by whenever you can.
  24. All very true. Guess I watch too many crime shows where elderly people disappear with foul play involved. Thank you for all your efforts Kay.
  25. Sad that the police were not cooperative. Don't know how much further you want to pursue this, but the Washington State Department Of Social And Health services has an elder abuse hotline where you can file a report online or by phone. Funny that the police dept. Is listed as a resource for help?
