  1. Dear Friends, I am a nurse and researcher at the Oregon Health and Science University who is engaged in research to improve the ways that our medical system supports adult children caring for their parents at the end of their lives. My colleagues and I are looking for people who would be willing to share their stories with us. Have you provided end of life care to a parent who you experienced as negative, unloving, abusive, or neglectful toward you during childhood? If so, you may be eligible to participate in a research study of how a history of child maltreatment affects the experience of caring for that person during his or her illness and death. You could be eligible to participate if you are: -age 19 or older -have provided care for a parent who has died in the past 2 years -have experienced the relationship with that parent as negative, unloving, abusive, or neglectful during your childhood If you enroll in this study, you will be asked to participate in one or two interviews about your life and experiences related to the focus of the study. You will be paid $40 for each interview. This study is conducted by Drs. Dena Hassouneh and Pat Berry from Oregon Health and Science University School of Nursing. If you are interested in participating or have any additional questions, please contact either Dena (by phone: 503-501-9179 or email: phillide@ohsu.edu) or Pat (801-243-6444; berry_patricia@outlook.com).
