  1. They changed the snow predictions this morning so suddenly I needed to fix something for potluck, made this: Keto Chicken Nuggets Easy · 1 can of chicken · 1 egg · 1/2 cup of shredded cheese · Seasoning Mix all together and make balls, press to make shape. Cook at 400 for 20 minutes flipping them half through. Or air fry 400 20 min. Double recipe: 28 nuggets @.6 net carbs each https://www.instrupix.com/easy-baked-chicken-nuggets-made-with-canned-chicken/ https://www.instrupix.com/easy-baked-chicken-nuggets.../ #recipe For seasoning I used Watkins Bacon/Cheddar
  2. I didn't have power issues here but in a nearby city there was a huge ice storm that affected Eugene, Springfield, Marcola, Dexter, Pleasant Hill, Cottage Grove, it shut everything down! Trees came down, it was dangerous to be out, no one could walk or drive, basically everything shut down! Never been anything like it in our history! My daughter and her BF couldn't go to work for five days! He finally got his truck fixed after everything opened back up. Amazingly, we were left unscathed up here but we were shut off from the world, no internet, phones, cellphones. Cellphones wouldn't give any credit even though the towers were down. None of the credits equalled the disadvantage though. Getting snow today on, supposed to be a mild winter except here the next two months. Praying the power holds. You may be jumping the gun but if it gives you hope, what does it hurt! Got my well head covered with an insulated wooden box and painted, gravel put around the sides. Now waiting for the well people to come back out and bury the electrical line but it may not happen until Spring, they haven't answered their phone or email or texts for four weeks tomorrow. I was lucky to get them out just before the ice storm hit!
  3. I don't remember when I last wrote. Panther isn't sleeping in his basket the last couple of days, maybe the top of the carport, no idea. I came home and my well head was covered with an insulated wooden box, I painted it...and then it started raining (unpredicted) so I leaned a board up over it. The next day I removed it and the top was fine but the sides I wiped down and they had spots that hadn't dried. I just tried another coat yesterday, hopefully it dries better, not daylight yet. Otherwise I'll wait until summer. I got a small amount of gravel to cover the top around the wellhead/box. My daughter and her BF survived the ice storm that brought so many cities, Eugene, Springfield, Cottage Grove, Pleasant Hill, Marcola, Dexter to a screeching halt. They were able to go back to work after five days of not being able to. Her BF fixed his truck. Our internet/phone/cellphones would not work and they seem to have finally resolved, it was hard, feeling cut off from the world. Cellphones would not give credit for being down. I wouldn't recommend Spectrum to anyone but it's what I have now. This whole storm made me see how fragile our lives are, how things can change in an instant and how on our own with it all we are. I'm so glad you are settled into a place of your own, one someone else has the charge of taking care of. Time for some "ME" time! And getting a refund back, yay! I hope you see the proceeds of the escrow soon. Kodie seems to understand Jazzy and Iris are gone. I've explained to him and tried to prepare him and it seemd it took, it's been nine days since he's seen them. I saw Jack (injured handyman) out walking a couple of times this week. Praying he makes a close to full recovery within a few months. Supposed to snow today and most of the week, no idea how much. Their predictions are understated and off and inconsistent. Aww but I love the Groundhog Day predictions! Even if they aren't accurate! America needs something they do for fun...a break from elections and dire news. Some people at church left because they didn't like the pastor's delivery, wanted a bigger church. Many died, moved, etc. We had someone in the congregation step up and volunteer to do the treasury...only one more week with Pastor & Cindy. It will be hard for him without training but he said he's familiar with the program. Doreen can help show him some stuff, she was learning with Cindy but wasn't comfortable doing it on her own. So what are you doing with your time?
  4. Your mom already knows how you feel about him so why exascerbate the situation by telling her again? She KNOWS how you feel! She makes her choices, just as you make yours. At the end of the day you don't want to ruin your relationship with her. She was a grown ass woman when she had you, raised you, and even if she makes an unwise decision, it's hers to make. Do you want her in your life? At the end of the day you'll have to find a way to make peace with this.
  5. @DBeans So glad to hear this, it's a step in the right direction, you are taking positive steps in your life and I applaud you! So glad to hear it! And thank you for letting us know, we care!
  6. Ours was 56 yesterday, unreal this time of year but will snow Thursday night on...roll with whatever comes, I guess! 80 degrees is a LOT!
  7. We want that for you as well...enough is enough! I know how it feels when it just keeps coming. Praying better days are ahead!
  8. Glad to hear you're doing okay! It's been quiet since Gwen disappeared. Still think about her and wonder how she is. Worried about her. Yeah, winters can be rough here, been hard this year, my well went out less than 3 weeks ago. Still awaiting the bill, est. $5-6k. He mentioned $3,750 roughly but hadn't added it up yet. Then Eugene got slammed with a huge ice storm that shut them down, so I imagine he's still dealing with the aftermath of surrounding area, Springfield, Lowell, Creswell, Pleasant Hill, Dexter, Cottage Grove. I haven't gotten groceries in a month so plan to go Monday (100 mile round trip) weather permitting.
  9. We're in a hazardous hydrological outlook right now, poured buckets all day and will through tomorrow. Iris left to take Jazzy somewhere and then she's off to Mexico for five weeks. Kodie will be lost w/o his afternoon play dates. Panther has spent five days/nights sleeping in his basket. Still eating and drinking, greeting us. Our pastor and his wife are leaving 2/11 for a new church. The other treasurer quit, so we don't have one now. First time ever. People keep quitting! Only had 13 1/2 carbs yesterday, ate carnivore, yet my BS was 113 this morning, but I think it's stress as I'd just discovered I'd left the faucet running a small stream last night...first time ever! You have to shut it off hard or it doesn't turn off. Went out and checked the pump Tec & it didn't appeared tripped. Water is a little clearer this morning so changed the pet's water bowls. Snow coming Friday unless they bump it to sooner. Hoping not a lot. I bet you do miss your gardening! If you grow a pumpkin on a balcony, I want to see a picture! George had the green thumb, I tried to keep his garden alive, nope! I need to plant some flowers on my balcony this year, beyond the one plant. Time to get rid of the fake ones. I used to love my flowers! I did a pretty good job filling in the hole around the well head, just need a bucket of gravel to cover so not so muddy but don't want a whole truck for just that! Still waiting to hear from them, haven't gotten the bill yet, they must be slammed! Will likely be Spring before they come back and bury the line. and run it into the electrical/tank room. Here the snow isn't gone until May. It's always a long winter, our longest season. People count Spring in March, nope, not here! Six months. I also prefer heat to cold, esp. now that I have an A/C, but I sure don't like the threat of fires/smoke. Hoping this summer is better now that we've had so many wildfires already. You must have a pretty big bedroom! I use my bedroom for storage, don't sleep in there, sleep on the reclining loveseat, Kodie either next to me or on his own. When we went to Bible Study there was a table full of stuff people could take so I brought back some tennis balls and a soft furry blanket and Kodie's eyes lit up! He knew they were for him! I put his new blanket on his loveseat and tossed the old throw, he loves it! I'm so glad you have a balconey! My daughter loves hers! She has a lot of plants growing on it. And her kitties love it too. So glad her Stella is getting well! Take care of yourself and don't be too scarce! My friend has been out of power 14 days and will be another 10, seems cruel to make him wait that long because he's rural, scares me if we lose power, we not only lose water but all our food, connection with the world.
  10. For some reason I woke up with you on my mind, wondering how you're doing. I rather imagine you're kind of where the rest of us are, having realized/accepted they are gone although not liking/agreeing with it, but missing them each and every day and the life we had with them. My life is now survival. Growing old alone is not for the faint hearted. 71 now. Are you still with your mom and brother?
  11. We need snow but not here, up higher in the mountains, at the ski resort would be good.
  12. Just checking in with all of you, hope you're all okay. News says our county will get a powerful windstorm next week, could be out of power for days, God I hope not. Would lose a lot of food and no water. 🙏
  13. Our internet and phone was out this morning, came back just in time for me to leave for my car appt.
  14. This is EXTREMELY rare! Springfield was on boil water, closed a whole section of town's restaurants because of it! Basically both cities shut down and grocery stores shelves empty, many still w/o power, had to throw their food away. Those w/o oil or wood heat were very cold, had to stay with someone else. Kodie is fine now. Hopefully Melissa's cat still improving. That's what I worry about if I ever move, I love my kitchen! Could get rid of two back bedrooms if I could keep the rest of the house. I think I could live in a one bedroom house. I'm glad you're settling in, I can't imagine the humongous task you took on with everything you have done! I am fine, I spent all afternoon/evening picking up branches that had been buried in snow (still have some snow encased that I can't do until the snow melts completely), I can't count the number of wheelbarrows full I picked up and put on the burn pile! It, unfortunately, raised my blood sugar as vigorous exercise does. 😡
  15. Wow! I t hought Marg was saying that at first, surprised me! I got chewed out by NOAA this morning for reporting mine and my daughter's websites out two days ago. Last time they thanked me for letting me know as they have no other way of knowing! Guy could use some people skills but I assumed he'd been stressed.
  16. Multnomah Falls is frozen, I'm not sure if you caught that.
  17. I fell last week also, slipped on a slippery slope where they put my satellite dish, slid down and landed on my arm, I laid there wondering if I'd broken anything, thankfully not, but bruised it elbow to shoulder and my neck and other parts hurt the next day. Still hurts to touch a week later! Marg, best not to go out in weather like that! Eugene is pretty flat, some soft rolling hills surrounding it, but it's not mountains like here, elevation 300 ft where my daughter lives! This is very unusual weather. Kevin, what are your temps now?
  18. That's east of Portland, but I was amazed. Eugene is a disaster zone but my daughter was finally able to get to work today after being home five days. Her BF is working on getting a ride, his truck is out of commission, what a time for that. And he has an inspection tomorrow I think. I never saw anything come through Kodie's stools, they seemed fine, it was all vomiting and fever so maybe a bug? Who knows. My daughter's kitten is finally improving and eating, she's been sick all week. Someone said take a Uber to the vet, you couldn't! The entire town was shut down, including transportation. Businesses closed, grocery stores empty.
  19. I feel that about my soulmate in a dog, Arlie. 4 1/2 years. Hard to believe. Missing all my pets, I've had a lot, but look forward to being with them again and helping Kodie to know them.
  20. This is our Multnomah Falls! Frozen.
  21. This is our Multnomah Falls! All of Eugene is a complete mess of ice, fallen trees, power outages. We've had some here too. My internet has been down three days this week, which wipes out my phone, cellphone, and texting. Branches everywhere! The stores are still out of food because the trucks can't get it to the stores. Roads/interstates closed. The tree that fell behind my daughter's car in the parking lot, the apt. hasn't cleared it yet. The state or much of it is at a standstill. People can't get to work. Been nearly three weeks since I've gotten groceries. No mail, garbage.
  22. Apple is high in carb, 20 for a small one. Our internet, phone, and texting have been out since Sunday, back for a bit yesterday and then out again. Eugene is a disaster zone. Reminds me of the Columbus day storm in 1962 only it was a hurricane, the shelves are empty, everything is a mess, thick ice and snow, my daughter hasn't been able to work all week, they're telling everyone to stay home. A tree fell behind her car so she couldn't go anywhere if she wanted. Her kitten has been sick all week, can't even take her in. Kodie was sick too, horribly, no idea what brought it on, he vomited at church several times. Lots of snow and ice...
  23. Kevin, keep safe! It's a horrid mess here and in Eugene.
