Merry Christmas & Happy New Year

Recommended Posts

Dee,

I was like that at first, now it's the life we had together that doesn't seem real, weird, huh!

OMG, Dee, that is wonderful news!  Maddie got a reprieve!  Does the chemo make her sick?

Yes indeed, one day at a time, I have to do that still.  Every time I start worrying about the future, I make myself go back to TODAY.  Today is enough.

Well , having the pleasure of a 7 year old for a couple of days....I decided to purchase a sled (plastic toboggan/) and provide some old school  entertainment......It was a big hit and tired the kid out...We completed the day with a Weiner and Marshmallow roast.....Haven't done that in years , brings back the frozen feet and Hot chocolate memories ........Still a bit cool up here , always below freezing but not outrageous.....

We did that at the coast when teenagers, it was a lot of fun!  No lizards though.  ;)

I see the chill is coming back...Siberian High as they say, the temps will be -20 up here for about 5 days....Strangely, as long as the wind stays away, not too bad...Many years ago  we had -52 in Fort McMurray Alberta(300 miles North of Edmonton)...The Diesel fumes produced a thick fog, something out of Stephen King....Is this Government shenanigans effecting Pensions or medical stuff?.......have a good day

Kayc:  Yes, right now the news is good for my Maddie.  The chemo so far hasn't made her sick as some dogs suffer.  She just acts more quiet than usual and less active for about four days after the treatment.  She so far has kept her appetite and still seems eager for her walk.  She is my reason for living right now and I keep praying the news will be good as long as possible.  Like your baby she is 11 years old so is already up in her years.  Actually, we are the same age. LOL.

Hope you are feeling better by now.  Dee

Dear ones, you will notice that I've edited or deleted some recent comments in this thread, and I would ask that members refrain from sharing their political opinions and beliefs in these forums. Just as our readers and members vary in beliefs about faith and religion, so do we vary in our thoughts and opinions pertaining to politics. We must take great care in respecting and protecting individual beliefs, most especially if and when they differ from our own. Bear in mind that whatever material you post here is visible to the public. When we share with one another, we recognize that whatever is said to one person is intended to be read by everyone. If we have something to say to one person that cannot or should not be shared with everyone, we must consider carefully whether it should be said at all. I ask that if you wish to continue discussing with one another the current state of affairs relating to politics, governmental affairs and party affiliations, please do so privately.

Dee, glad Maddie is doing well.  I didn’t recall she was on chemo.  Dogs do so much better with that.  So glad we now have specialists for this.  Hugs to you.

Gwen:  Thank you.  So far she is doing well.  Each day with her is a blessing.  Dee

Marty,

Kevin was merely asking if a couple of things were affected by the shutdown, it was no reflection on his or my views at all when I briefly answered him.  I didn't feel his or my comment was either one of a political nature, he's in Canada so it seemed natural to me that he should wonder what's affected here.

It's not what either of you said, Kay ~ It's the opening of a door that invites further discussion on a topic that does not belong here. Once a topic as controversial as this is introduced, others feel free to share their own personal views and opinions, and soon it can get out of hand. I simply chose to nip it in the bud. There are plenty of other places where political discussions of that sort can take place ~ certainly Facebook is a prime example ~ but these forums are not intended to be one of them. My intention is not to limit free speech in any way, nor is it to criticize what anyone has said here.

I stand by my earlier statement, and I hope we can put this matter to rest.

TomPB:  Yes, our minds do play such tricks on us.  It is puzzling sometimes when we can recall a memory as if it was yesterday when it happened so long ago.  Your ability to recall such detail is interesting and I would think is comforting to feel as if you might still be there, when you were happier and more content with life.

Some nights when I can't sleep I take my mind to the happiest times with our little family walking together in the woods.  I can almost hear the birds, feel the breeze rustling the leaves with our silly dog running ahead of us.  Does not feel so long ago either,  but it helps me realize how fortunate I was to have such a life once.  Sometimes, it helps the sleep to come.

Good Dreams.  Dee

Dee, remembering happy times is part of my meditation. Aa with everything, the problem is getting past the pain of the loss. My counselor emphasizes having gratitude for what Susan gave me. She points out that I torture myself for not having enough gratitude for having her when I did, and I shouldn't repeat the mistake. But it's easy for me to say there's nothiing to be grateful for NOW.

Super cold in Boston and for me one of the happiest times was simply being inside with Susan having a hot chocolate or something like that, holding on to each other. Maybe doing a crossword together - I started one today. When I do that I always write to her on the page.

One reason I can see to go on is to do everything I can to make sure Susan is remembered. I supported scholarships in her name at an organization where she was active on the Board and I'm going to their annual meeting to meet the first awardees and discuss future plans. That will be hyper emotional.

TomPB: Your generous heart to keep Susan remembered is wonderful.  The emotions you feel at this organization meeting will surely give you peace and comfort.  Dee
