Loss Of My Baby Guinea Pig

Recommended Posts

My little baby guinea pig died this morning. He was only a week old, everyone who met him thought he was gonna survive, because his mom had just died giving birth to him. His three siblings died with their mother. I miss my little one so bad, and I got a new guinea pig to help with my grief. How do I feel better? How long is this going to last? How can I come to terms with his passing and realize that it wasn't my fault? Please help me.

I am so sorry, I just lost my dog three weeks ago Friday.  I've cried every day, I miss him so much, and nothing will take his place.  I know with my head the pain diminishes gradually but waiting for that to happen is painful.

I don't know how you could think it's your fault, but I guess as their protectors we naturally feel we should be able to stop anything bad from happening.  My dog had cancer and I had him euthanized so he wouldn't suffer any more, I beat myself up about it, thinking I should have done it sooner/later, should have known before the vet caught it, should have gone to a better vet, etc. I think guilt is just part of the grief process, it doesn't have to make sense, just something we seem to go through.

And even though yours wasn't euthanasia, the response in this article I think applicable for you also, it has been good for me to re-read it as well. https://www.griefhealingblog.com/2014/04/pet-loss-guilt-in-wake-of-euthanasia.html
