My 11 yr old baby passed. I’m in need of answers

Hi, last night my baby lost his battle to prostate cancer. He couldn’t move at all. We were going to do an at home euthanasia today in the comfort of our home and his familiar territory . Before rushing him to the hospital, he was laying on the couch, then all of a sudden his body lost complete control and it was like his body went into a convulsion and he fell off the couch. It happened so quickly.  I jumped to the floor and tried comforting him That’s when he started losing his breath and was breathing heavily. Does anyone know what can cause that? I was so traumatized because it came so suddenly and we were both with him for days. My fear is a struggle. Was this going into shock? What happened? I keep replaying this over and over in my head . Please help me.

@Cymarji  I am so sorry your post did not show up here earlier, we never meant to neglect you!  Losing our babies is one of the hardest things we can go through.  And to lose him on Christmas, I am just really sorry I wasn't here for you when you first wrote.

I do not know what caused it, I'm not a vet.  It does sound like a seizure and there are many possible causes.

I hope you'll update us on how you're doing...if you are still bothered by the images, you might want to try either of these techniques and seek a professional grief counselor that specializes in pet loss.  If you have any questions, feel free to ask, @MartyT has a wide array of articles listed here.
