My Mama's Life Was Taken Away From Her

Recommended Posts

On May-29-01 my Mama died in a local hospital it has been 3 years now but the pain has not let up. Even though she was 71 she was a very young 71 year old and did not look a day over 45. She loved life and always told us 4 children that we could get old and sit around a house if we wanted to but she WASN'T and she didn't. Anyone that knew her or met her loved her. She was dating an ex-manfriend from 40 years ago and 30 days before she was killed by "medicial treatment" she was walking on the beach and doing fun things with him and all of us was so happy to see her young at heart and loving and enjoying her life. Then in May-2001 a heart doctor convinced her she needed open heart surgery or would not make it through the weekend " we later found out from our lawyer that probably she did not need the surgery" she really suffered from the doctors mistakes and the hospitals mistakes and even to a malfunction of a heart pump that ruptured inside of her then a nurse in a careless and negligent manner forced the NT tube down my Mamas nostril causing a severe nosebleed that filled her lung. The doctor chose to divide her innominate vein to surgically open her chest and he KNEW it would or could cause Mama additional problems the doctor owed Mama a duty to attain her "informed consent" prior to doing this procedure which he failed to do. It just goes on and on and is unbelievable all the mistakes that was made and I hurt so bad to know how my Mama suffered in the hands of this doctor and hospital. My Mama was a great big LOSS and I want all of you to PLEASE be careful of the many many heart doctors doing unnecessery heart surgery. God Bless Our Wonderful Moms.

Dear Janet501, I'm sorry to hear of your still fresh pain. My mom was also lost to medical malpractice, but of a slightly different kind. Her new doctor prescribed over 200 "anti-depressants" to her on her first visit!!

Without checking to see if she had anything in her medical record that would indicate some type of prior detox or drug problem. When she was found in her apartment, there were only 37 pills left......This was last year, August 2003. I am very angry and you must be, too. I have come to realize that being angry is good and it helps. May your higher power be with you.

I'm sorry to hear about what happend to your mom. My mom also suffered from medical malpractice. She had an aneurysm and they gave her blood thinners at the hospital, which made the bleeding worse. Before this happened my mom went to a pain management dr. for back pain and he started giving her shots in her back. She lost control of her bladder, and could only walk with great difficulty. She eventually lost her will to live. I feel for you in your loss, no one knows how it feels to lose a mom until it happens to them. I wish you the best. Take care.
