Hospice of the Valley is gearing up for fall. From our festive wine auction to volunteer orientations, there are many ways our friends and supporters can help advance our mission.

Wine auction fundraiser set for Oct. 21

There's still time to register for Hospice of the Valley's 12th Annual Off the Vine Vintage Wine Auction. Join us from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21 at Royal Palms Resort & Spa in Phoenix. The event, benefitting our patients and families, is $150 per person. For more information and to register by Oct. 14, click here.

Volunteer orientations start in October

Have you ever thought about volunteering with Hospice of the Valley? Three volunteer orientation sessions start in October:

• West Valley: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 6-9 p.m., Oct. 4 - Oct. 27, 9435 W. Peoria Ave., Peoria.
  • Central Phoenix: Fridays, 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Oct. 14 - Nov. 4, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix.

      12 News spotlights Lew Ruggiero as HOV volunteer
      Former TV reporter Lew Ruggiero works as a private investigator these days, but on Saturdays he spends time as a volunteer with Hospice of the Valley. Channel 12 News featured Ruggiero in a video report that shares why he enjoys volunteering for HOV. To watch the story, click here.
      
      Grief support groups starting in October
      Several six-week grief support groups focusing on specific topics and audiences are starting in October. They include:
      
      • Mother Loss: Healing Support for Daughters: Wednesdays, Oct.12 - Nov.16, 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. in Scottsdale; and Wednesdays, Oct. 5 - Nov. 9, 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. in Gilbert.

      [*]Life Cycle Interrupted: When an Adult Child Dies: Mondays, Oct. 17 - Nov. 21, 2 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. in Peoria.

      [*]Coffee with the Guys - Men's Grief Support Group: Mondays, Oct. 10 - Nov. 7, 8:30 a.m.-10 a.m. in Surprise.

      [*]Healing Rainbows* Support Group: Thursdays, Oct. 6 - Nov. 10, 6:30 p.m.- 8 p.m. in Phoenix. *Serving the lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender community.
