POSTED ON: JANUARY 26, 2017
WRITTEN BY: COALITION FOR COMPASSIONATE CARE OF CALIFORNIA

The Transforming Power of Music, with Olivia Newton-John and Friends

Loss and grief occur for many reasons—whether it’s caring for a seriously ill patient, or losing a loved one, a relationship, one’s health, a pet, or a job. It’s important to remember that each person’s grief is as individual as his or her DNA – and there truly is no timeline for healing from loss.

Join us for a special webinar featuring international superstar and multiple Grammy Award-winner Olivia Newton-John, Grammy nominee Beth Nielsen Chapman, and SOCAN Award-winner Amy Sky, as they talk about their newly released album, LIV ON, and how music has the power to transform, heal, and shed light on the fact that it’s OK to grieve—and that the process is different for everyone.

Monday, January 30, 2017
Noon to 1 p.m. PT

While taking into consideration the many causes of grief, they hope to provide the unique ability for those in need of support to heal through this music.

I just finished watching the above webinar: Hope Beyond Substance-Related Loss

If you didn't get a chance to watch it look for it to replay on Open to Hope. It gave me a better understanding of loss from drugs or suicide.

Just finished watching another webinar this morning from Peggy Haymes titled: “How Long, Lord? What Christians Need To Know About Depression”.

This short video is good for anyone. The three main points covered were Nutrition, Exercise, and Sleep. Peggy is doing a series of these webinars and will be making them available for us soon.

We have heard about how important it is to take care of ourselves but often times we do not follow through. Eating the right foods, getting exercise, and sleep patterns all contribute to a healthy mind and body. Depression could be linked to the fact of not doing this self-care. Exercise is vital ~ we must move even if it is a short walk each day. Eating healthy foods (lots of fruits and vegetables, drinking water, etc.) and our sleep will improve which will improve our disposition.

I will post the webinar here when it becomes available. These are all things we know about but when we are grieving it becomes foreign to us. Often times we do not make the connection about a healthy body leads to a healthy mind.

I am not an exerciser but I loved how excited Peggy got when talking about exercise.  She said just getting up and moving across the floor is a start. We do not think about how "frozen" we can be during grief.

The hard part is the sleep, we can control our diet and exercise but sleep seems to have a mind of its own. :(

Thank you for sharing, Anne.

Livestream begins tomorrow, June 2, 2017

Have you ever wondered what happens to us after we die? Is that truly the end or is there something more that happens in those last few moments? What about in the moments after we breathe our last breath? Are near-death experiences real? If any of these questions have ever crossed your mind, the Afterlife Awareness Conference will come as close to answering them as you’re ever likely to get.

This year’s conference takes place in Portland, Oregon, and features a diverse panel of speakers—including psychologists, shamanic healers, and mediums—who approach the subject of the afterlife from three very different angles—that of spirituality, bereavement, and scientific investigation. From scientific research on deathbed visions and ancient funeral rites to shamanic journeying and multi-cultural perspectives on what happens after we die, the 3-day conference is a master class in everything you ever wanted to know about the post-death experience.

Can’t make it to Portland to experience the conference firsthand? We’re offering a livestream of all 14 hours of dynamic speakers that you can watch from the comfort of your very own couch.

And if that isn’t enough to entice you, we’re also offering the digital archives of the 2015 conference for FREE when you purchase the 2017 livestream ticket.

If you’ve ever had a nagging suspicion that life may not end when our physical bodies expire, this conference is for you.

Archives of the 2017 conference will be available about 24 hours after the live event, and there is no time limit to watch.

Featured Keynotes

Deathbed Visions in Hospice Patients

Dr. Christopher Kerr is the chief medical officer for Hospice Buffalo, an affiliate of The Center for Hospice & Palliative Care. Dr. Kerr researches the therapeutic role of patients’ end-of-life dreams and visions and will share with us his knowledge and experience with dying patients experiencing non-delirious visions.
How Animals Teach Us from the Other Side

Beyond Words author Danielle MacKinnon has worked with animals and their humans for more than 16 years in more than 50 countries around the world. In her keynote address she will share information about our animal companions in the afterlife and how they work with us from the Other Side and what they have to teach us.

"I’ve been to many conferences that address life after death, but this one is a rarity. It approaches the subject from three different vantage points—spirituality, bereavement and scientific investigation. It is inspiring to see how these different perspectives lead to the same place… an awareness of the survival of consciousness after death. The bereaved find peace and healing. The spiritual seekers find validation for their mystical experiences. And the scientific researchers find an eager audience for their work. This conference brings it all together.”

Dr. Raymond Moody, author of Life after Life,
and the world’s leading researcher on near-death experience

Exploring the Science and Spirit of Death and Beyond

Our goal is to blur the boundaries between allopathic medicine and alternative healing, between intuitive experience and scientific research, and between religious traditions and a spirituality of oneness to increase awareness of life beyond the physical body.

Scientists, shamans, doctors, mystics, and more gather together.

The annual Afterlife Awareness Conference is dedicated to uniting the disciplines in furthering an understanding of the survival of consciousness after death, bringing together nurses, social workers, physicians, mediums, clergy, counselors, and alternative healers with a common goal--to offer a deeper understanding of death and beyond.

Only $97. Save 75% off the in-person price.

Can't attend live? Save $328 off the in-person price when you enjoy watching the Afterlife Awareness Conference online.

Purchase includes access to the digital archives so that you can watch when you want as often as you like! Buy your ticket.

This just in from our friend Peggy Haymes. Not a webinar, but rather the first in a new series of podcasts. Peggy writes, "I'm doing a series this month on natural emotions, and in this one I'm talking about anger. Next week we'll look at grief."

Allow 26 minutes, and you can listen to the podcast here:

When you're grieving it's easy to slip into what-if thinking and ongoing guilt. In contrast, affirming yourself with words can lead you forward on the recovery path. This straightforward workshop defines affirmation, gives examples of grief healing affirmations, cites affirmation writing steps, and offers ways to apply affirmations to real life. Affirmation writing isn't complicated, according to Hodgson, and her workshop will get you writing quickly. Writing affirmations can improve your day and change your life.
