What an excellent video! I made me realize I need to be much more tolerant of my own journey and the journey of others, and that this is such a unique experience that it needs validation 'simply' for the reassurance that we are on a part of life's journey that is a real part of life, and we are healthy. When our culture resists the process of grief and the reality of the pain and confusion, then I think we lose a lot of what can be the valuable learning and growth that comes with grief.

Thank you Anne and Marty for re-posting. Needless to say, I also watched the one of hers on the Bully in the Brain which I really liked and was of help to me. Thank you. :)

This is a powerful video featuring Angie Cartwright, founder of Grief The Unspoken and National Grief Awareness Day, which takes place each year on her mother's birthday, August 30. Angie has endured a number of devastating losses in her life, and is passionate in her belief that "We need to get grief out of the dark and into the light." Please take 10 minutes to watch this inspiring video!

Thank you for this video, Marty. Yes, powerful and that is how it is...living in isolation, yet able to heal.

I feel we are getting grief out of the DARK as we come here ~ talking about our grief. I hope everyone watches this video.

Dear Anne,

I think Doug and I have every version of The Little Prince that has been created. Doug would search out different productions. :) Thank you for that wonderful reminder.

And Marty, thank you for the video on Grief Awareness. I hope everyone here watches it, too.

namaste,

The talk by Elaine Mansfield on grief and rituals is excellent, and helped to bring home, for me, the need for those concrete rituals I have established to carry me along on this grief journey. Thank you Anne.

This is a beautifully animated video acting out a well articulated section of Dr Brené Brown’s lecture on the difference between an empathetic and a sympathetic response:

This came to me this morning, from our dear Bill's Mary:

Read more about this song here: An Alzheimer's Anthem

And here are the lyrics:

Remember Me

written by Chris Mann, Laura Mann, Rudy Tanzi, Willy Beaman, Dora Kovacs

I need someone to hold, to hold on for me

To what i can’t seem to hold on to

The life we used to live, is slipping through my fingertips

Like a thread that’s unraveling

I suppose that nothing lasts forever, and everything is lost in its time.

When I can’t find the words that I'm trying to speak

When I don’t know the face in the mirror I see

When I feel I’m forgotten and lost in this world

Won’t you please remember me

Remember me

I know there'll come a day, when I have gone away

And the memory of me will fade

But darling think of me, and who I used to be

And I'll be right there with you again

I hope I’m one thing worth not forgetting

Tell me that you’ll never let me go

When I can’t find the words that I'm trying to speak

When I don’t know the face in the mirror I see

When I feel I’m forgotten and lost in this world

Won’t you please remember me

Remember me

I hope I’m one thing worth not forgetting

Tell me that you’ll never let me go

When I can’t find the words that I'm trying to speak

When I don’t know the face in the mirror I see

When I feel like I’m lost and alone in this world

Won’t you please remember me

Remember me
