Guest
Just wondering if anyone has read this book. I'm only two chapters into it but so far it seems pretty on target to me. The reviews I've seen are outstanding but would appreciate feedback from someone here if it has been helpful or not.

I have not, but will look it up and see if it available from Better World Books (discount/used book site). Can't afford regular bookstores but they have many 1000's. Thanks for the info....do you have the author's name?

Guest
I am now four chapters into the book and am impressed with where it is going. The book deals with loss on all levels, death, divorce, retirement, loss of a job. So far it is ringing true to my experiences. It might be worth a looksee. MartyT
Brad, I've read all the books these two gentlemen have published, and I am quite familiar with their work. They are businessmen who over time have developed their own individual approach to the grief process, including their own grief counseling certification program ~ all of which has brought them a certain financial gain. While I have no problem with their approach (it's the American way, after all), I think it's important to know that the Grief Recovery Program is based on the personal experience of these two men, and not on any formal education, training, research, supervised clinical practice, licensure and certification in the fields of psychology and / or grief counseling. There are lots and lots of outstanding grief books and grief programs "out there," and we all need to find what resonates with us. If this book resonates with you, that is wonderful and I am happy for you. But for everyone reading this, I hope you will see also the many titles listed in our own Grief Bibliography. Different strokes for different folks, as they say. ♥
Guest
Thank you Marty - That is the feedback I've been looking for. I went into it knowing that their background was not clinical not academic in nature and I am just four chapters into the book so they are still introducing concepts. I think what is ringing true with me to this point is their approach to how people react to those of us who are grieving. I will definitely explore the titles in your Grief Bibliography as I like to take a very proactive approach to things and this thing has me still wondering what it is that hit me. I've never struggled so much in my life.
