My boyfriend and I have been dating for a month or so before his mother was diagnosed with inoperable cancer, and it’s not looking good. He’s not the best with his emotions- he bottles it up and is uncomfortable with certain levels of vulnerability. I’m trying to be supportive but i fear I’m smothering him instead- not entirely sure. I’m worried about him and concerned he will push me away. We have a great relationship, but sometimes his grief is taken out on me. I can handle it, but I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do to be supportive through his grief if he’s a bottler. Thoughts?
How to be supportive without smothering my low e-q guy who’s mom was diagnosed with inoperable cancer a month into us dating?
