  1. Gone From My Sight

    ~Henry van Dyke

I am standing upon the seashore. A ship, at my side, spreads her

white sails to the moving breeze and starts for the blue ocean.

She is an object of beauty and strength.

I stand and watch her until; at length,

she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky

come to mingle with each other.

Then, someone at my side says, "There, she is gone"

    Gone where?

Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as

large in mast, hull and spar as she was when she left my side.

And, she is just as able to bear her load of living freight

    to her destined port.

Her diminished size is in me -- not in her.

And, just at the moment when someone says, "There, she is gone,"

there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices

ready to take up the glad shout, "Here she comes!"

    And that is dying...

  2. I am so sorry for your loss. I am new to this site but have been walking the terrible path of grief for almost 2 years. My daughter, Madison, would be 2 years old on Monday. She was born full term but died at 2 days old due to complications at birth.

Your grief is still so raw. There are no words that can heal, only the helpful hands and hearts of supportive friends and family, and those of the other greiving parents out there.

I wanted to let you know about another website that is centered around the loss of a young child. It's called The MISS Foundation.

    The MISS Foundation

My prayers are with you and I pray that peace finds a way, even if momentarily, into your breaking heart.

Please share more about your daughter. I would love to hear about her.
