niamh Posted April 2, 2011 Report Share Posted April 2, 2011 I noticed recently this "new" thing I miss so much....hearing my Dad being mentioned by name,not as "your Dad" or "your Father". I never see it written anywhere anymore,no cards,no little notes from him and that hurts. I was texting a very close friend recently and just said "I'll have to have words with Dad" and she knew my Dad,she simply replied with "don't worry I'm already having words with Michael". It made me cry,I can't remember the last time I heard his name,although I cried I just felt it was one of the nicest things I've heard. It's something so so simple,yet had an enormous impact,not something I ever thought of or realised Until then and I miss it a ton.
