AAHA! fundraiser coming up March 5

Calling all art and antique lovers ... HOV's signature fundraising event, AAHA! An Auction of Heirlooms & Art will take place Saturday, March 5 at the Arizona Biltmore Resort. The event features silent and live auctions of collectible art, antiques, and art-related items to raise money for HOV end-of-life care programs and services. Tickets are $200 per person; corporate tables start at $3,000. Click here for more information. HOV honored with Arizona Pride Guide award

Hospice of the Valley was honored with the 2011 Publisher's Award from Arizona Pride Guide in recognition of the agency supporting the LGBT* community. Publisher Michael McFall presented the award to Billie Myres, HOV bereavement counselor at the Pride of Arizona Awards Ceremony held Jan. 8 at the Radisson Hotel Phoenix City Center. *Lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender

HOV staff make headlines

Clinical Resource Nurse Barbara Schmal became president of the National Board for Certification of Hospice and Palliative Nurses on Jan. 1. The national board certifies that nurses have met standards for specialized expertise in palliative nursing and end-of-life care. Read more here.

Valentine's Day grief support groups

Free community grief support groups are being offered at three different times/locations on Monday, Feb. 14 for individuals grieving the loss of a partner. All sessions are being hosted at HOV offices. To register, call 602.636.5390. Click here for details.
