then talk to

one another

about

inconsequential

things, such as

who sent flowers

or fruit

order take out

or pick up fast food

watch day~time tv

while trying to keep

the baby busy and quiet

and the undertaker comes

one, two, three, four times

...in a week

and they close the doors

to shield the families

from the inevitable reality

we wait for death

for the last breath

for relief,

release,

peace.
