  1. That's a concern too. I was wondering if the Church where they would pick up meals would provide insight? I think I remember Gwen saying Dee wasn't her given name. Dee
  2. Oh yes Marg, I thank God for him. He watches over her like a hawk even reminding her when she should click that button that releases the pain meds as she gets sidetracked so easily. As you know, you have to stay on top of the pain. I only wish they didn't live so far from the Pain Doctor/Clinic. The ER doctor is really not allowed to treat her situation other than maybe prescribe a pill. The hospital tried about 2 different pills which would only relieve pain for about an hour at a time. Dee
  3. Karen: Thanks for rattling my cage. LOL My excuse is probably the usual, not much happening in my life. There were a few days of concern for my daughter who lives in Oregon. She texted me she was going to call on my birthday on Wednesday but was involved in a canning project. After a few texts back and forth, on Monday I finally called her husband. He said he had to take her to the ER Sunday because she was in such excruciating pain and her pain pills weren't touching the pain. She didn't want to call me because she would upset me. She had a pain pump surgically inserted about 5 years ago due to her back pain issues and he was afraid the pain pump was not working. The pain clinic is in Eugene over an hour away from where they live and was told they couldn't see her until Thursday. Being the great caretaker husband he is, he kept calling the pain clinic and was finally able to get her in on Wednesday. The pain pump is still functioning so far, and she has been on a 5-day treatment with prednisone. Her next step will be an MRI. Pain doctor thinks the excruciating pain is due to "sacroiliitis". I am not proficient in medical terminology so am just glad the pain is under control. Dee
  4. kayc: My goodness 16 years old! You were an ambitious young lady. I too worked for a school district but not until I was 50. That was when I took advantage of the free computer training and really enjoyed learning the programs. I retired in 2002 and was able to enjoy some wonderful retirement years with my dear husband. Dee
  5. I used to have a Yahoo.com email account, but due to their changes and my confusion of how to follow their instructions to update my information, I decided to stop using it. I have two other email accounts. I don't have you and Kay's computer smarts and your perseverance to battle these folks. Where I worked, there was an IT Department that made any kind of changes, updates, etc. We secretaries were only allowed to turn the computer on and turn it off after we ended our work day. My first introduction to a computer was when my son was old enough to want one probably in the 1980's so he could play games on it. Me too! I can't remember numbers or dates anymore. Even now since moving to my new home two years ago if asked for my phone number or address I have to struggle to remember - I can tell you my old address or my old phone number in a second though. I blame it on being born in 1941. ๐Ÿ‘ต๐ŸผDee
  6. Weaksoul: I totally understand how you wish you could bury this pain somewhere. In the past eight years I have had those feelings too. On the days that are difficult I try to tell myself I will just have to keep going and hope the difficult day will pass swiftly. Take good care and I hope you have good days more often than not. Dee
  7. kevin: Good for you. Cataract surgery sure helped me and was such an easy process in my case. Dee
  8. Marg: I think about Gwen all the time and wish we'd hear from her. I just pray she is being looked after properly. Well, how does it work for you? I'm sure you won't have much trouble learning it. I bet your Granddaughter can assist you. Good luck. Dee
  9. Marge: Sadly, I do believe I don't belong in this century anymore. The constant changes are happening faster than my old brain can comprehend. At least you have a wonderful sense of humor and ability to respond that keeps you alert. I do love reading your comments and responses. ๐Ÿ˜Dee
  10. This popped up on my Facebook the other day and seems appropriate for this discussion. Am feeling more and more like this little old lady in cartoon.๐ŸคจDee
  11. Kayc: How sweet of you to give your neighbor the fishing gear. I would think George would have approved that something he and you loved to do together would add joy to someone's life. A fish allergy had to be difficult for you since you loved catching fish. My Bob loved saltwater fishing and all outdoor activities. Unfortunately, I didn't but I never said no if he wanted to go do what he loved. Our two children learned how to fish, crab and shrimp in the ocean, Hood Canal and Puget Sound. My enjoyment was listing to their adventures and eating the wonderful seafood. Dee
  12. Kayc: Oh my goodness. So sorry to see this. Take care. Dee
  13. Kayc: "stutter" is the perfect word to describe what my fingers do on my laptop. The keyboard is so sensitive I am constantly having to correct what I accidently typed. Sorry your PC gave up on you. It was smart to get your laptop set up and current when you visited your son two weeks ago. I used to have my smart phone set up with the Bluetooth system in my car. Unfortunately, I didn't drive my car for an extended period which resulted in a dead car battery, and I lost the ability to use Bluetooth. I decided not to have it set up again since I felt I shouldn't be driving and on a phone conversation at the same time. Getting older convinced me I could only do one thing at a time. I believe my laptop has Bluetooth technology but couldn't tell you how to use it. Am wondering if my printer is connected thru Bluetooth since I can print in a different room than where printer is located??? Can you tell I am not a techie kind of person. My daughter gave me the printer she no longer needed, and my son did the connecting. Dee
  14. Marg: There are days I wish I had gotten a Jitterbug when I graduated from a flip phone back in 2015. The advertisements make it look so much simpler than the Samsung smart phone I chose. The big buttons on the Jitterbug look much more user friendly. My fat fingers and poor vision create problems not to mention not making use of all the extra bells and whistles I haven't a clue about. I had to ask my 13-year-old granddaughter how to delete and block a spam number yesterday. You will do fine with a new Jitterbug since you already know how to Jitterbug. ๐Ÿ˜Dee
  15. Karen: Oh my 111 degrees! Glad you were able to get it repaired but sorry Sears is not cooperating. Keeping fingers crossed you will be able to get some reimbursement. Dee
  16. Marg: Interesting concept??? Wondering if the panels are solar panels since your area gets so much sunny weather. Dee
  17. Marty: Keeping you and yours in my prayers. ๐Ÿ™๐ŸผDee
  18. kayc: Yay! Am loving this coolness. It's so nice to turn off a/c and open windows. The outside temperature reading 61 degrees. Thinking about going out and standing in the rain. ๐Ÿ˜Dee
  19. Kay: We in Washington experienced some of that storm with loud window rattling thunder and rain. The rain was so welcome but much too brief. The weatherman is predicting some rain next week and we will begin with Fall weather. Keeping fingers crossed their predictions are correct. Firefighter shortages is a scary thought. Dee
  20. kayc: Glad you didn't have to evacuate and sorry about your daughter's situation. The weather here cooled down in the evenings but heats up during the day but nothing like you and Marg have to deal with. No rain in sight for awhile though. My son was telling me about his friend that lives about an hour away that had to evacuate quickly from a nearby brushfire. The wife was home with young child and the instructions from fire fighter pounding on front door was to grab child, leave car seat and dog and get in her car. The fire moved so quickly there was no time to put car seat in her car. Luckily the brushfire was contained, and she and child were able to return home. Of course, my reaction to this story was no way would I leave a dog inside the house. I don't know how big the dog was, but I would have let it run free if I couldn't have lifted it. But that's just my opinion. Dee ๐Ÿคจ
  21. Marg: Am hoping she is safe, and you can get some relief from your heat. Fortunately, after 3 days of high 80's and mid 90's temperatures things have cooled down some. It's 9:30 pm here now and temperature says 72 degrees outside. Take care. Dee
  22. kayc: Hoping you're okay. You haven't posted anything since yesterday. Am afraid you may have had to evacuate. Sending good thoughts your way. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ Dee
  23. kayc: Our "fur babies" will always be in a special place in our heart. How can we ever forget how much they were loved and how much joy they gave us. Hugs, Dee
