  1. So relieved, he came home this afternoon, he's never done this before.
  2. I've not seen Panther since 1 am, really worried about him! This is unusual!
  3. I was supposed to go on a ladies retreat but to have them lay down the law about Kodie, that had never been an issue before, because another service dog is going besides him and deliver that message 2-3 days before going in a not very nice way...I'd literally be joined at the hip with him for four days, first she said he'd have to be kenneled the whole time, I haven't had him in a kennel since he was a pup and then only at night. I can't even lift the kennel now, let alone take it apart. Then she said he'd have to be on a leash the whole time. Not allowed in kitchen. Last year he got deathly sick because someone dropped a bunch of raw onion on the floor so that's probably a good thing. Then she yelled at me because he sleeps with me and yelled they wouldn't get their deposit back. She finally relented and snapped, Fine! We'll just give up our $200 deposit! I'm getting beyond it, unsure what else they'll spring on me. These are things you mention BEFORE someone signs up and pays, not right before going. My blood sugar was up 20 points from the stress and I've worked so hard at it! Was half way packed but...I wanted him to experience the coast, was looking forward to it, but not if he'll be treated some kind of way. FOUR days of this, not sure I can survive. And it occurred to me that all of these stressors are external. Things that we encounter in our lives. Not fun though. Decided not to go and my BS was 82 the next morning! (That's great). I later found put the last minute change was because someone else with an aggressive service dog was going. So punish my sweet Kodie?! I think I made the right decision.
  4. Wow, that's dedication! I just gave my weedeater away, I've hired it done since my injuries in 2017. No idea, I need to get rid of everything but plan to have an estate sale and junkhaulers come when I get this place paid off and find a place to move to. They'll clean it. ??? Did someone get tar in their hair? Her quote was $3,500 so she's hiring someone to close the places they're getting in and bought something called One Bite at a feed store. She has one more week of radiation after today. He never balked at his tick or worming Rxs before but I spoon fed it down his throat! Wow, 50s here, 30s/40s at night, I have my wood stove going. Going to reach 70 nby end of week, not sure if I'll let the fire go out, I have the door open in the daytime so it doesn't get too hot. Me too with George's pictures, I wish I knew their history... They very much are nowadays! But I have NEVER heard of a doctor inserting themselves that way! Ever! How CAN they?! Doesn't it break all kinds of privacy laws? Throat better but still have inflamed tongue glands, although not to the tip anymore. They could have given me a steroidal wash but I turned it town, messes with blood sugar too much. Two days ago Panther hurt his right front paw/leg and it swelled, he was picking it up. Definitely favoring it. Yesterday he got spooked and jumped off the 8 ft. high patio and injured it way worse, swelled double in size. I moved his house to this end nearer the patio door so he won't jump off the deep end and instead walk on the ramp. His response: don't use it. Try to help cats. No idea where he is now but he woke me up at 1 am wanting fed, never got back to sleep. Didn't have the heart to yell at him. Can't get him into a carrier to take him the 1 1/2 hours away to the vet, can't travel with a feral freakish cat in the car. Hoping he heals from this! My heart goes out to him. POURING rain today, my coat got sopped clear through, had to change my jeans and top when I got home! Hoping all goes well for you...if you can't find anything to rent, try here, not bad if you avoid Eugene. My hands are the same, hurt, less strength all the time. Yesterday I got two loads of firewood up on deck, tarped bottom stall of firewood (that was hard), vacuumed, dusted...today I cooked for the potluck at church including making homemade mayo, didn't care for it so will pay the $8 for healthy "Choice" mayo 8 oz. next time. What we do to avoid seed oil!
  5. None nearby, no kids, a cousin who called her once a month. As we all do, thank you, so glad you're back! Yep we're all elderly, getting older with our infirmities, but none so hard as Gwen.
  6. For filing wellness checks and they did what they could. I don't know where she is though, the hospital couldn't tell me except she's not there anymore. And what would I tell them about elder abuse, I don't even know the person's name or where Gwen is now.
  7. I did a reverse search by that number, didn't get anything.
  8. She was admitted to NW Hospital in June and they won't tell me anything. Dead end. I think if she had her cellphone or tablet she would have made contact by now. Whoever checked in here in August was not her, likely Dee, so... The hospital did say their "census" didn't indicate her there now. So Lord knows what rehab/nursing home, she'd be in...
  9. It shows she visited here August 14, although hasn't posted since June...IF that was her...it could have been Dee going through her account...
  10. Actually all I feel is relief. Kodie may or may not have liked the beach but he's not a water dog, it's one of Jazzy's favorite places but he's happy/content playing with her and walking in the mountains. He does love going places but will Sunday. Good luck on Monday, Karen! Will hold you in my heart. I spent hours looking for Gwen, I have her name/address/phone number but got nowhere. I don't need a background check, just looking for death records, nothing, so maybe she's somewhere without her phone/tablet, I just hope Dee isn't controlling her or holding her hostage, scares me. Am wondering if police do wellness checks anymore...
  11. Dee, hoping they DO something for her today! Eugene is my haunts, where I grew up, I shop on the Springfield side but often have to go to doctors in Eugene. They're closing the only hospital there, but there are two in Springfield.
  12. I tried searching for obits and came up empty so that's a good sign. Maybe she got moved to rehab or a nursing home and doesn't have her phone or tablet? I just don't trust the person she lived/s with.
  13. It was going to be today through Saturday but I canceled going. They told me last minute Kodie would have to be kenneled the whole time, and it was told in a very curt way. No. He hasn't been kenneled since he was a puppy for six months nighttime only. I can't even lift, take apart the kennel with my loss of strength! Then she said on a leash, but not allowed in the kitchen and they put me on kitchen duty even though my thumb is STILL healing (cut to the bone), they took the stitches oNut way too soon. Then the next day she sprung on me that he couldn't sleep with me, then when I told her I ALWAYS sleep with him, she yelled, FINE! We'll just pay the $200 deposit! It got me so upset my blood sugar rose 20 points the next morning. I decided not to go and immediately my BS dropped to 82! (that's excellent). So not going on this retreat. Everything changed since last year because they have another service dog going that is aggressive. Okay, so punish my sweet dog for it. No, not doing. Too much time in "session" anyway and their bedtimes way later than mine. I was willing to live with that, but the rest, and especially the delivery, no. Karen, I've been checking back every day to see how you're doing...anny updates? Dee? Marg? Kevin? Sure wish we could hear something about Gwen...
  14. I am glad for you for the changes you've made in your life but know all too well the continual missing of those we love...still missing Arlie and Kitty. Kodie has been registered as a service dog although we didn't really put it to use until May or so, he goes to church with me even when I'm on the platform singing, and he went to my mammogram with me, he goes to the grocery store with me, everywhere. He's so good. Wishing you the best and it's good to hear from you.
  15. Waiting for the fall colors to go with the weather, it was 34 night before last and 50 most of the day, 60 for a short time. Edenpure running full time but keeping me from freezing just barely. I don't want to start a fire yet as I go on my retreat in five days and don't want to build one until I get back. I hope your dog gets better...did he eat something bad? If a Colitis episode, you can try chicken breast (no grease!), yogurt, pumpkin, and rice, it'll help him heal up. Had to do that with Kodie last year when he got some onions at ladies retreat someone dropped a bunch on the floor. He was sicker than a dog for two days until his system made it through.
  16. I didn't get any training but managed to figure it out, I remember the computer took up the whole wall! Such as it was back in the day! Now I've got this tiny laptop and fight with it all the time, ha!
  17. Coconut oil is good to bake with, you could also try cooking with avocado oil. I like frying in bacon grease the best as coconut oil can make things stick to cast iron. If you want a shock watch this: I have links to several of his and they are good but lifechanging! This one is also good, do NOT take statins! Once you understand the drug company skewed the results to sell their drug (statin) which hurts and not helps us... Now you're getting it. It was all a cover up with us like guinea pigs, gobbling up their products, go down the cereal aisle! I read the nutrition on each and every one one day, there wasn't a one that was fit. Not one. I avoid them like the plague. I have a faux oatmeal recipe (no oats/grains) that is good. What do people think our ancestors ate? Not what they're promoting nowadays! To me it's a miracle anyone lives with so many carbs in their diet! And grains! Standard medical touting, they're nuts! David Diamond | LCH2019 Day1 | Cholesterol, LDL & Statins - YouTube I fed that to Panther at first to entice him, it worked! I switched to catfood so it didn't bust my budget. I swear they put something addictive in Friskies, cats love it! During the pandemic all I could get was some generic brand, had to starve him into that one! When I finally could get his brand, I mixed them half and half...he'd pick his out and leave the generic! Cats aren't stupid! I don't know what it was but I cut it off flush to his face and now he has a hole in his fur, looks weird so I hope it grows back, but it wasn't going away on it's own. He didn't wince or bleed, I think I got a good cut on it, it doesn't bother him. Perhaps some pitch? It's pretty stubborn, about the only way to get it off is to cut it off the fur, usually he gets it on his paws and poor baby, he gnaws at it for the longest time! Do. You don't know what you don't know and any of us would make mistakes. What would you tell a best friend in this situation? Tell that to yourself. And listen. Listen, really listen to the beginning words in Marty's response here and take them to heart: https://www.griefhealingblog.com/2013/01/guilt-in-wake-of-parents-death.html Iris is halfway through the radiation, I'm doing my best to help her, getting Jazzy out of her kennel to play with Kodie, clean her kitchen and do her dishes. She has the worst infestation of mice I have ever seen, chewing holes in walls, pooping in the drawers, etc. I spent a day taking the drawers out and cleaning everything, disinfecting, covering with peppermint oil...the next day they were back covered...I suggested an exterminator, we'd tried a bucket trap, plug ins, peppermint oil, she didn't want the electronic traps I swear by, or even D-Con. She has someone coming to do a bid tomorrow. Kodie really is good. I was stunned yesterday when I went to give him his tick and worming Rxs (cost me hundreds of dollars, not throwing away!) which I grind up and put in some canned dogfood which he only gets once a month with this, always before he's scarfed it up, not this time! He clenched his teeth shut and would not open then spit it out all over if I got one bite in! I literally had to force feed it to him one bite at a time, holding his mouth shut and massaging his throat to get it down! I can't imagine doing this the rest of his life and what I don't get is he's willingly ate it every time before! Stuck with the worming med. Moved Panther's bowls and owl over by my patio door, seems to be working, Kodie and I guarding the door and putting his food dish inside when we have to be gone, coaxing Panther to eat while the getting is good. You are making progress. I know estate sales don't sell things for as much as someone could get but honestly, you can't stick it out there the rest of your life holding out for more $ as it costs you every month you're there, it's a losing proposition. My sister would be shocked to learn what all their stuff went for and so would Bert! But they did what had to be done. The kids have still seen nothing from the sale of their place. Lawyers/CPAs, won't mention what I think should be done to them, suffice to say it's not pretty. Wondering if it'll ever happen! Take care, my friend and try to have a good day!
  18. At least your days are occupied with being a teacher. Seriously, it'd help if you'd get out and develop new contacts...
  19. Mine was in the 60s when I worked with OTIS at Roosevelt Jr High, I was supposed to be a trainee 3 hours/day, but the trainer quit before the school year began so instead of doing training, I had to DO the full job in three hours/day! I did it, I was young then (16)...now I'd quit too! Still fighting with Microsoft...hate them! I haven't had problems with Yahoo but only use it as a back up way to notify me anything. Won't use Outlook again, as far as I know someone else probably took it over. They won't let me in or start a new account. Not good people to have as an enemy. I know they start charging if you reach your capacity, not that much though. I would have had to pay last year but deleted all graphics in my history, took all day, but got it done, should have enough storage left to last me the rest of my life or at least a few more years, hopefully I'm astute enough to go through this again. It was bad enough having to go to a different computer, I sure don't want to ever start over with a new email! And I'm glad you guys are here to talk with me about it, makes me not feel so alone in this!
  20. I tried to renew Office 365 yesterday, it took up my whole day as I couldn't download it, but after hours of trying to call them (Got AI that instructed me to go to a website that didn't exist), tried chat and the first two didn't help at all and left. Third one stayed with me quite a while. Microsoft changed my google password, finally got back in as it accepted my new pw, omg, that was a nightmare! MS keeps changing my designated browser, they deleted AVG off my laptop, reinstalled it, this all went on for HOURS!!! Hoping it settles down. The bank thinks I was "compromised and needed to cancel my M/C, I think the only compromising was Microsoft, he didn't believe me, so I'm on a "watch and see" mode, will make it my daily (if not more) practice to check for my AVG, browser, shut McAfee down (again and again! Another Microsoft bent) and check my bank activity. Tried to no avail to access Outlook, gave up, they blocked me out and won't let me in, pw does no good. So sorry I wasn't back to check on your response, it truly was an insane day! All day! Turned laptop off when I called it a day.Ye It was beautiful here yesterday, today it's 40 with a high of 60, brrr!! Karen, I am so glad your recovery didn't drag on! And I wish to God I'd have given up on my teeth and got them all pulled years ago, gotten dentures, I'd be $ ahead! My sister Peggy said that was the smartest thing she ever did, she got uppers but not lowers. I used to have a partial but had the teeth pulled that they anchored to so I tossed them and did w/o ever since. I never used dental adhesive and they worked fine. A soft potato sounds like you're doing much better!
  21. Get him out of your mind and thus world. As long as he is in it, he is still there affecting you and your life. 1) Block him on social media, phone, email, etc. 2) Occupy your time with things more worthy to engage in...go on nature walks, strike up friendship with those in tune with your insterests, join something of interest, go with a friend to a museum, engage in theatre, birdwatching, nature, etc.k 3) Volunteer at your senior site, walk dogs, etc. In time you will build friendships and a life apart from him and his mother. Because you can't include one without the other, you know.
