  1. Am missing her also and sure worried! Don't have her contact info. Hope she will check in.
  2. Gwen, please know that I think of you each Saturday night because I know how much it meant to you and how hard it is now. Thursday was my birthday. I didn't even realize it until my son hugged me and told me "Happy Birthday". Life just keeps passing by and I don't seem to have the energy to even wave. Don't think I'll ever get used to no phone call from my daughter. That was a great movie, a real tear jerker. I don't watch many of those. I watch a ton of movies. Watched an action movie called " Collison". Actors unknown to me, but a wild plot that really kept you going. I finally started getting movies from the library again, so can see some of the newer ones.
  3. Way to go, George! I've never used a ham radio before. We had a CB business back in the 70's. Used a big base station and mobiles. Limited mileage range unless "skip" was running and Big Brother wasn't around. It was fun talking to other people, but some could get nasty and threatening just as now on social media, I guess. I'm not on Facebook so couldn't view the video.
  4. I guess swamp coolers were adequate, but as Phoenix grew and more pools and golf courses were added, the humidity hampered the efficiency. We put in central air in 1984. Doubt they would work well at all where you live. Glad you were able to get your shot without too much trouble. Is it the 1 shot vaccine or will you need a 2nd one?
  5. WOW! A "full service"" gas station. Haven't seen one in eons, although the last one in AZ is apparently a few miles up the street. Been pumping my own gas since at least the early "70's". That's about as mechanical as I get. I'm so lucky I have the guys here to help me with things. So much I can't do anymore because of no strength or balance. It seems like just yesterday I was climbing up on the roof changing pads on the old swamp cooler. lol Now I can barely climb up on a stepstool to change a light bulb. Never gave a second thought to falling off the roof, but sure don't want to fall off that stool now. lol Just turned 74. Old age. You gotta love it!
  6. Kay, I'm so sorry. I hope little Kodie will recover quickly. How is your arm? You may have to carry pepper spray or a big stick on your walks. Sad that you live where there are bears and cougars and yet you have to protect yourselves from a mean dog. Who knows what the crazy dog was thinking? Definitely needs to be restrained. The chow next door was friendly as a puppy, but seemed to grow mean as it got older. Always barks like it wants to tear your throat out when you step outside.
  7. I finally got around to watching the Oprah "Meghan & Harry" thing just to see what all the fuss was about. IMHO, I think she's got poor Harry bamboozled and she's less than truthful. Any intelligent person who is in a serious relationship with a "royal" is going to check out the family and it's dynamics and various protocols required. Yet she said that she hadn't done any of that. Give me a break! I found the interview less than entertaining. I doubt either of them spend much time worrying about where their next meal is coming from. lol
  8. Darrel, so good to hear from you and glad that things are on the upswing. I was wondering if you were still in the Galveston area. Guess you are an Okie at heart though. I'm so sorry about your little dog. I know she was a comfort to you. Any plans for a new fur baby in the future? I hope times continue to improve for you. Stay in touch when you can.
  9. Nothing new happening in my arena. Just the same murder a day and nastiness that goes on all the time. Hurt my back somehow a couple of weeks ago. Couldn't bend over or lift anything, but it's finally better now. Just finished going ten rounds with Sears again about my water heater. It started shutting itself off again like it did last year. Same repairman came out and couldn't find the problem so he replaced the modular control panel. Didn't solve the problem. After telling them their repair service was full of $hit, they finally sent two new techs out who took it apart and discovered a blocked filter on the inside, cleaned it all out, and reassembled. So far so good. Hope this finally solved the problem. Really windy here today. The sky is brown with dust which loves to come in and settle on everything. Guess I'll make some burgers and get back to watching movies and reading which is the extent of my exciting life. I'll be 74 this month. Sure not the way I imagined it.
  10. Dee, don't laugh too hard now, but I have snow boots in my closet. Probably at least 40 years old and used once or twice. I'm saving them for my "fantasy" move to Montana. lol
  11. I thought of you all up there when I was checking the weather earlier. Hoping for a little rain here, but fat chance. lol I love looking out at snow, but not necessarily trekking around in it. Living here since age 9, my snow experience is limited. Went to our cabin only a few times in winter. Gwen, please be careful if you go out. Both of you stay warm and cozy. You too, Kay. I believe you are expecting snow too.
  12. And we'll just let you keep that nice weather all for yourself, Kevin😁 Stay warm! It's 70 here in the desert right now.
  13. Gwen, it sounds like an adventure for sure. Funny how some of us had dubious beginnings and yet our relationships lasted a lifetime. If someone had suggested I would meet my future husband sitting at a stoplight, I would have laughed in their face. Only a fluke that it happened. Keeping you in my thoughts.....
  14. Well folks, you know you're old when a nice younger man stops on his way into the store to ask if you need help putting your groceries in your vehicle. Guess I looked like I was struggling. I thanked him and told him I would be alright. It was nice of him to offer.
  15. Gwen, this is definitely not the way to escape boredom! So glad you were able to get it checked out promptly and all is well with your heart. Make sure someone keeps tabs on the abdominal aortic problem. My father used to always say he could feel his heartbeat in his stomach. He died from an abdominal aneurysm. You can never be too careful. Sending hugs.....
  16. According to the White House report, Arizona is still leading the nation in New Covid cases, deaths, and hospitalizations. We are all wearing masks here. At least I've not seen anyone without one. The fact that we have a lot of retired "snowbirds" here in the winter may have an impact on the numbers. The only person who is judgemental about my sleeping pattern is me. I wish I could sleep from midnight to 8am, but it's never going to happen. It's usually from about 5am till noon. It's fine for this household with my son working nights and sleeping days. TV is a constant gig so hours don't matter.
  17. Good to see you here, woman. Was about to send out the Marines. Glad your sister has finally gotten oxygen. Anything below 90 is considered too low. Don't know much about platelets except I remember that Debbie's platelets would sometimes be too low for her to get chemo and it required an injection of some kind. I imagine regrets are something we all learn to live with. What's done is done. There are no "do overs".
  18. I still have no plans to get the vaccine. I have always been an "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" type of person, I guess. Went for my yearly dermatologist visit and all is okay. I have a ton of moles mostly on my back, but nothing bad. Lab work from PCP showed blood in urine(as usual). Advice to drink a lot of water and recheck in a couple of weeks. Probably won't change anything. Glad you were able to get your vaccine appt. Because Covid numbers are so high here, there's currently not enough vaccine, but I'm sure they're working on it. Looking for rain here the next few days. Will believe it when I see it.
  19. Wow Gwen! Just what you needed, some NUT yelling at you. Not sure what I would have done. In younger days, I might have jumped in my truck and run his bike over. Not a good idea as I imagine he has friends. Being a lot older and slower now, we probably take more crap from bullies than we should. Plus being alone gives us no backup. I'm just glad he didn't hurt you physically. Did you think to report it to the store or police?
  20. Ana, I'm so very sorry. Wishing for peace in your heart.
  21. Missy, there is no "normal" in grief. No one walks in your shoes except you and no one has the right to judge your feelings. My husband and daughter have been gone for nearly 8 years and 7 years, respectively. I don't cry every day, but still have moments of unbearable sadness. They remain in my thoughts and heart every day and always will. Time does take the edge off, but does not obliterate the grief.
  22. I was on my way to the store today and I stopped at a crosswalk for 3 teenage girls. It felt so odd. There they were all decked out in their backpacks and MASKS! Reminded me of abandoned kids in an apocalyptic themed movie. It's sad to see the kind of world these kids are having to grow up in. But when you think about, kids in third world countries have been living in turmoil for years. Even sadder. I guess reality is a little harder to accept when it hits home.
  23. Anne, Pre haircut Benji reminds me of a Tasmanian Devil just waiting to spin himself into mischief. Just so cute. I know you miss him very much.
  24. Supposedly, Arizona is leading the nation in New Covid cases and deaths. What a thing to be famous for! For all I know, the news may be saying the same thing locally for every state. You really don't know what to believe. Irregardless, I still plan to get my truck washed, go to Walmart, and the grocery store. Wondering how many "germs" these strangers will leave behind as they clean my truck? There was a time when we went outside to get some fresh air. Now we're afraid to take a breath. Life has become ridiculous!
