Same here, no groups at all, very small town. But I was very lucky to find someone who has been widowed and explained a lot to me. We are Grief buddies, talk daily......mostly about aches and pains...keeps one grounded and out of the depression(most of the time). Nice to share the Journey with someone who actually understands......

I had a bad day yesterday, talked to a Lawyer today...almost through the Maze of the system....Janka , as long as we stay alive, our Spouse 's memories will live on. In a conversation , with humour or reverence, where applicable, I give examples of my wife.. As long as I'm walking, she is walking with me.......I've accepted this is going to be awhile, but I'm going to have a good time with Grief my partner........Haven't figured it out yet, but" get busy living" is the motto........have a good evening

My Angela also told me she could not go on, my thoughts were because of Health issues and my care giver duties. My fear was my blood pressure or heart would put me down first. I had the BP machine out and checked everything out 2-3 times weekly, double checked all meds , I thought we were both doing fine. And then , in an instant, it is gone........ But , in my utmost sincerity, I am thankful she doesn't have to go through this.........

Margaret, in this Economy , maintaining two homes is not a Good idea. You will end up capitulating to sell the vacant house(take a bath) and regret it......My plan is start getting rid of my excess "stuff"....sell existing home next year......then downsize......My problem today is paying for 2000 square feet I don't need,...........Slow and easy wins this race.......

I was told years ago is the best sign of Faith is to give thanks in advance....my limited memory of the Gospel(Mark), when Jesus was doing the healing and casting demons, the belief and Faith component was mentioned all the time...particularly to the disciples .I really question it sometime....it took me 63 years to begin to understand.....new journey

Stay at home and don't allow yourself/ or your son to be a soft target....or accidental victim of "friendly " fire....I sincerely feel for you , time for super caution....these people are plain crazy now...everything is escalating.

Pretty depressing day all round.......didn't have the get up and go to get to Church...... But even the Christmas card thing is difficult because it was a joint thing, now like you say we are a "shell" , everything is fake for me or a Mechanical heartless exercise....I believe this will change in a few years. Margaret, I'm going through the same thing, but our time lines are very different........I made up my mind not to do anything of any significance for a year. But most of my dear Angela's cloths did go to charities......It pays to begin with an end in mind, for myself it is to downsize to something half the size, which means at least half my belongings have to go....Every two weeks one big Orange Garbage leaves the house, simple math makes that 2000 pounds this year.....We had a Forest Fire threaten our town three months ago and were on alert, sure made you think what is important to take with you, and what you would let burn. All I had ready(besides the Dog and Cat) was my computer, documents and stacks of picture albums. When it came down to it material things did not matter, only the memories ........But Margaret, slow down, just a bit, the initial Shock gets us through the first wave , now realization of our journey alone is real...........Your print ..of THE RUMI poster , sorta sums it up......

Momma and Alzheimers, my Mother developed the disease at least 10 years ago.......It was sad to see a strong willed and kind Woman change to a Vindictive and contemptuous person. She would quote scripture, particularly Leviticus, and if it was written...it is the Law.....It was sad but after seeing/sharing this with at least 20 people in different groups, I came to understand the illness. So today, two years after her passing, my memories are very much alive with her very early years, and they are all good.......She brought Christmas alive......

What do you do when your CT or MRI shows a small aneurysm? The downside risks of an operation are an uncontrolled bleed out, loss of normal functions(walking talking, cognitive decline)...and 24/7 care......once the patient is over70 its like Russian roulette . Meds keep the pressure down and the blood thin.....but if there is a stroke, there will be a bleed out. The decision is live like there is no tomorrow and respect the quality of life the patient wishes.....There are no easy decisions when this happens.................This is why I have my Bad Days

Debi, you nailed it again,,,,,,, it seems like yesterday Colin Powell was making his speech to the UN and couldn't convince anyone there were weapons of Mass destruction anywhere. Security Council voted against military force against Iraq. Everyone who stood up against Bush and Blair were branded traitors or non patriots.........CNN covered the Shock and Awe aerial assault.(24/7).......And nothing was found to justify the invasion. Today, Iraq is a bigger mess than before, and a new enemy as emerged, ISIS , with a cache of old US /Iraqi weapons......

I read on facebook there is over 4.2 million Children displaced in the last 5 years.......this will compound the existing problems for another generation and only fester more hate for our way of life and freedoms.......

My solution to peace in the Middle East 20 years ago was for each of the major Auto firms, GM, VW,Toyota, Fiat,Etc build plants throughout Gaza, Egypt, Jordan and the Sinai. Provide employment and Stability to the people of the region.Any place where the youth have 25% unemployment fosters anti everything....... The business case has always been there,(cheap and skilled labour, location, super low taxes) but the whole terror/powder keg mentality dissuades everyone from taking the risk. With the millions of refugees ,it is strange how quiet Saudi Arabia is...Good news today, drove down and bought new battery....900 cold cranking amps...this will start in the North Pole..... have a good evening

KayC.......Went down to pick up mail., quick trip, only 1 mile......jumped into Van and off I went, got mail, and Van would not start to go home....It is pitch black, a little cool, didn't bring my cell, so I had a brisk walk home(uphill).....Got hold of neighbour, jump started Van and returned home...... Lesson learned(same as yesterdays) is be prepared, don't leave home without cell or wallet,,,and dress warm.....have a good evening everyone.

Aren't we all the same....Brad, the phrase joined at the hip is so true. Even after 4 months, there are times I find myself waiting for Ang. Picked up Christmas cards yesterday, sons, daughters, grandkids, etc,,, then I saw the card for your Wife , I broke down and teared right up......And Gwen, my House is a big waste of Space.....I have at least 70% of my house is avoided or not used...too many ghosts or memories. In the spring I will make up my mind on my future lodgings.........I also am staying away from Windows 10...

I have not lived alone since 1983, and that was in a Motel.....Always people around.... But now I do have a check in friend, and I am so cautious around ladders, powered equipment, and I watch my culinary exploits.....I to am 63, and double check everything, better to be safe than sorry....Do not drive in the dark, rain or snow, will not hesitate to overnight....and always have emergency kit this time of the year.....Things I used to take for granted, I re think everything now...............KayC...I trust your fall was a bruise or sprain, but could have been worse?

Keeping an eye on ones Health KPI's such as Blood Pressure, BS, and Weight.......I found after the age of 45 or 50 , the RED kicked in.......R.....make sure you Relax..........E........makes sure you Exercise(this is where Dog is handy)...........D.....make sure you watch your Diet.......The weight loss is pretty easy now, just have to manage it . I backed off on Red meat , sweets, milk, and potatoes....Recently BP is back in line, believe this has to do with the weight loss and exercise. The point KayC made on living on you own , if you have any condition, it can be scary. Just another adjustment we are relearning on this journey.......take care
