Breaking Point

My little sister Julie has been going through so much...her little 15 year old daughter Chelsea has been having severe pain and can hardly walk, they think she may have Lupus, and to top it off, she is allergic to the steroids they use to treat it with.

Then last night my nephew Jordan tried to commit suicide. This is the same sister that had a child born without a brain (she has since passed away). You wonder sometimes how much one family can take. I don't know why it is that some people have children and it seems so effortless and everything goes along smooth, while this family has gone through so much.

Please keep them in your prayers, I'd appreciate it.

What can I say? This must be so overwhelming for you and your family.

Let's hope this is the beginning of the end of all this. I am so sorry.

And- How is John? Perhaps I missed your news. Did he get his checkup?

Oh Kay I am so sorry for all this pain your family is going through. If you remember my Mom also was just diagnosed with Lupus along with her cancer, so this is a disease that has hit our family also. How is Jordon and Chelsea doing today? I am sending many many prayers your way !

Thank you all for your responses. It is one day at a time. Jordan is back home living with his parents (my sister & brother in law). Chelsea is in extreme pain. John's check up is Wednesday and am not sure how soon we'll know anything, but he is still hit with the flu and respiratory infection, very tired. He hasn't had work lately, he shows up and it gets canceled...hard on the budget, but maybe a godsend in the end as he needs the rest right now.

Thank you all for your prayers. Honestly, sometimes it's all I know, when we feel most helpless, when things are most overwhelming, all we CAN do is pray...but prayer is not "nothing", it is something, perhaps the most tangible thing we CAN do! I wish a good day to all of you...

My dear Kay,

What you say is so true ~ sometimes praying is indeed the only thing we can do for one another ~ and surely you and those you love are in our prayers right now.

I'm reminded of the beautiful words of Abraham Lincoln:

"I have been driven many times upon my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had nowhere else to go. My own wisdom, and that of all about me, seemed insufficient for the day."

Kay,

I was diagnosed with Lupus over 20 years ago. Lots of ups and downs...good days and bad days. If I could offer your family any advice for your niece, it would be to get to a specialist right away. I was very fortunate to have found a wonderful doctor. I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so very sorry for all your family has and is enduring. There is so much suffering in this world and our finite minds cannot begin to fathom why. I too have family members who seem as if they get dumped on. I hope in some small way it helps to know that I just lifed your family up to the Lord in prayer. I look forward to the glorius appearing in the high above all heavens.

Dear KayC,

I remember having one of those years, and prayer was all I had. I never will understand why He does what He does, but I beleive in His power and love and know that He will never hurt us, but only help and guide us. God gave us understanding and patience for times like this.

We feel your pain and are here with you. Right now your sister needs your strength and love. Things will work out...just keep praying. Lin :wub:

Thank you all so much for your caring comments and prayers. This morning Chelsea is seeing a team of doctors and we'll know more later...this hasn't been confirmed, is only a suspicion at this point, so I'm still hoping it's better than we think, but time will tell.

John is also being seen this morning and I'm hoping the doctor will order tests that let us know what is wrong with him.

I appreciate you all so much, sometimes I feel you're all I have, but then I have my family.

Hi Jackie,

Thank you for your note...no new news on my niece, she has so many doctor's appointments and they still don't know anything conclusively.

I've been really sick, haven't been on line for a couple of days.
