How mindfulness is transforming. A short piece but filled with wisdom. I must say that it is Mindfulness and meditation that is getting me to my surgery date a week from today...with a pretty calm approach and hopeful attitude. And I know it will help me deal with the outcome.

That, and all of us bombarding Heaven with intercessions on your behalf, dear Mary . . .

Thank you, Marty. I think Heaven must be wondering what is going on with all the petitions. I feel loved. Thank you. See my other post about this preparation time.

okanokumo's selections of quiet times - watch in full screen - the movement places you in a quiet mode and it sure relaxes me...

And Mary, these might be good for you in preparation for Wednesday's surgery.

And Kay, relaxing for only ten minutes at a time could renew your very tired body.

As for the rest of us - we all could use some peaceful beauty in our lives.... enjoy

I am removing two of the pics I posted here because I feel I might have offended you, Mary. I in NO way am taking your surgery lightly. I wish only good things and fast recovery. Someone else's humor may not be appropriate to another. I am sorry if that was the case. I must learn to be more careful.

Lost what I typed: Awgh! Second attempt.

Here is 8 minutes of the 60 minute CD I carry in my car and listen to virtually every time I drive...sometimes for an hour or more. It is a spin off of the prayer of St. Francis.

The words include "as I awaken the living Christ in me". Whatever faith you are or are not, understanding the origin of the title Christ might help or at least be fun to know. Jesus Christ is not his name. It should be Jesus the Christ (like Jesus the contractor or author or whatever). Here are two links that explain the significance of understanding this and the words of this song. In short: Christ originally meant "covered in oil" or "anointed one," In Hebrew followers were anointed with oil. (as were athletes in Greece) In Christianity, followers are also anointed with oil. If one goes back far enough it is easy to see how so many of the rituals used in Christian services are tied to eastern traditions, Jewish traditions, and more. It is pretty fascinating stuff...over the centuries so many changes were made (some fear/control based, some to clarify, etc.) that we would hardly recognize early Christianity (in my humble opinion). So these words to "awaken the living Christ in me" take on a deep rich meaning tied to awakening the divinity in each of us. No sermon...just information of an historical nature that intrigues me but also touches deep places in me.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gnostic_Gospels

"And since God knows that man in time will lose himself in the superficiality of his material creation, He always provides a way for man (and woman) to retrace his footsteps back to Divinity. It has been said that any knowledge contained in any holy scriptures can first be found in the Vedas including mathematics, science, philosophy, yoga, medicine and so forth. The Vedas are the physical manifestation of Holy instructions for man to follow to regain his "knowledge of Self." The Vedas are supposedly the mantras, vibrational thoughts, of the Divine directly transmitted to these rishis. In John 1:1 it states "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." According to the Vedic texts that word is - Om. Om (Aum) is known as the primordial, first created, sound. From this sound all other sounds flow. This word Aum represents creation, preservation and dissolution. As a metaphor, if all language were a tree then the word Om would be the seed that gives birth to them all. From that seed grows a tree in which every leaf would be a word; every small branch a dialect; and every major branch a language that can all be traced back to one trunk with its roots based in the Sanskrit mantras.

Huge crowd at the Buddhist Center this afternoon...sand painting mandala is done. Tomorrow at 2pm they will put the sand in the river....nothing is forever in THIS world.

I have a major headache and backache today...so except for one errand tomorrow I will stay home and quiet. I can not take Advil or aspirin or anything with aspirin and Tylenol is useless. So I have to meditate this pain away. And I will.

Thank you, Anne and Stephen,

Yes, those were outside of my ability to laugh. Thanks for taking them down. I appreciate it and your words. I know you intended no harm and were probably trying to humor me.

Thanks, fae. Headache won't leave...so I quit trying...sometimes that is all one can do. Kind of a shaky day today. Stress headache for sure...backache is from sitting on crappy chairs at the Buddhist Center. I have a back that does not like bad chairs and most chairs ARE bad and when I stressed a bad chair can put me over the edge. :)

Peace to you also

Well, I hope the headache goes away, so I am waving the magic wand, filled with *<fairy dust>*, in your direction. We will use some non-local awareness for this. :)

Do you have some exercises you can do for your back, to make it less angry with you? I have no idea what they would be, but a physical therapist might be able to teach you a few in one easy lesson. :)

I assume you have something on your feet? Or else, better yet, that you are barefoot and reclining in a very comfortable chair. :) Give Bentley a head rub for me, please. :)

Non-local works...fairy dust arrived in tact.

Sox on feet...no shoes.

I do have PTMexercises for back. Problem is when it goes out, rare in the past few years, I can not do them. Walking is my starting place. Bentley is sleeping. I am watching old movies hoping to sleep tonight. Cookies and milk coming soon. Tearful tonight missing Bill like crazy.

Take care. Thank you. Rest and sleep in peace

Oh Mary, a headache AND a backache? I'm so sorry! Keep meditating, candles, soft music, Bentley by your side. And don't forget Anne's remedy of chocolate. (Actually, not if it's a migraine)

Will say a prayer for you!

Kay, headache is gone today...as soon as my head hit the pillow last night it finally disappeared. :) I have never had a migraine. Hope I never do. I am going to walk Bentley shortly to see if I can walk out the back ache. I might treat myself today to some chocolate.

I think it will be another scorcher today. We had a break yesterday...in the 80s.

Thank you, Kay.

Mary, we finally got some rain yesterday, and temps were cooler this morning. Hope the walking helps your back. Been thinking about you, and you are really on my mind.

Had a lovely day yesterday with my granddaughters, played games, ate hotdogs, and watched a movie. Their parents are gone to Tunica (casinos) with friends, and will not be back until late tonight. Tired a little today, last week was pretty busy, so today is strickly a rest day for me. Had my coffee on porch, and now ready to fix something to eat. Girls are still asleep. :)

I love using my coffee time on the porch for my "meditation" time. I just sit and soak in the sounds and the quiet. Love my mornings. Mike and I always loved sitting on back porch, especially with thunderstorms.

Oh, Q Mary,

Your day with your granddaughters sounds delightful.

Your coffee on the back porch sounds heavenly. I just got back from early services, and I am brewing some coffee, and I am going to follow your good example, and go sit on the back porch in the shade, listen to the birds, and remember all the mornings with Doug, when we would have croissants and coffee, tea for Doug, with bowls of fresh fruit, out on the porch or patio.

What a lovely idea! Thank you.

I just got through walking Arlie down to see the horses...Ashley likes me to stroke under her chin, she pushes forward and lifts up her head for me to do so, it's really cute. She seems very interested in Arlie, I'm sure he must strike the horses as a very strange creature since he acts weird around them. :)

I'm so glad you headache is gone, Mary! I hope your walk helps your back, and since you have Bentley to walk instead of Arlie, I'm sure it will be of benefit. I'm not a very good dog trainer, I'm afraid, Arlie sometimes thinks he's the alpha. Funny enough, when I'm injured, he seems to know and is extra good, like when I walked him left handed when my right arm was broken.

It's another beautiful day...we've been having weather in the upper 80s for about a month now, it's only rained once, and it's supposed to rain Tues. night, we'll see, it may be when I'm asleep.

Had a plumbing problem yesterday, water pipe to toilet leaking...quite a bit. I fiddled and fiddled with it, at first it seemed worse, then it finally stopped. I kept waking in the night and checking on it, but the floor is still dry, I just checked. The neighbor used it and tweaked the pipe (he's quite heavy), and I was really hoping to NOT have to call a plumber. So many things need fixed around here that I'm trying to figure out what to do first. And with my job/pay being so uncertain, I hate to spend anything right now unless I have to. So...waiting and seeing.

Fae, I love my coffee on the porch every morning. My personal time. The dogs come out with me, and roam the yard, or lay at my feet. I guess that is my meditation time, although I probably don't get very deep, just relaxing and chillin' out. Glad that you enjoy it also. Girls and I got caught leaving Wal-Mart this afternoon with a really heavy rain...I ran to get the car, and was soaked clear through.....actually rain felt kind of good, but was really wet!!

Heading to eye doctor in the morning to see if pressure in left eye gone down, keep fingers crossed.

Kay, hope the plumbing problem is solved easily. I know problems like that can be a real pain, especially when finances are uncertain. Hope things get easier for you very soon.

fae, headache has stayed away. I have accomplished little today which was the plan. Tomorrow my art group is taking me to coffee and then I have to get going on packing, paying a few bills that are due while I am gone, etc. My back is better...not there yet but better. It also cooled off tonight after a great heavy storm (rain) went through.

I find myself missing Bill a lot these days but am calmer tonight and think I may remain that way. I have a massage scheduled before I leave Tuesday morning. I will do that, then drop Bentley at the kennel and head south. I hope and pray all goes well and that I can drive home on Saturday....or Friday???? I am being optimistic. I do have plenty of people who will help in anyway. One gal offered to drive stuff down if I end up down there for a longer time and need something. Others have offered to drive back with me the following week for follow up IF I get home between appointments. I am blessed with friends who help and care including all here. If all goes well with both surgeries, I will only need glasses for reading and maybe computer...that will be a switch...I think I would get bifocal with no line...the top being for computer screen distance and the bottom for reading a book.

I hope you are doing well tonight...it has been such a time for you. Are you getting your art things gathered a bit?

I need to read a bunch of posts to catch up...but doing it slowly.

Mary

Get a good rest tonight.
